Twirling, shadows furling--here's the Faery Ball

The Dancer gives his answer and the masks all fall.

Like owl's moonsoft wing
He stills, haunted grace
"Do you know the King?
I don't know his face."
As I tremble and tarry
He smiles, twinkling
"Take heart and be merry--
I'm the Faery King!

The Witching Hour chimes--All Hallows' Night is coming soon
And I shall give you roses and the poet's Mystery

The dancers shimmered 'round us and he held me as I cried--

And here at midnight's Faery Ball, I'll take your hand and dance!
And I will live a lifetime that the Faery King enchants."
