I once loved a snow white swan... She soared to me on her starlit wings! Doll eyes dark lashed in mystery She's twirling her moon halo’d parasol Dream of a long lost century Time turned our enchanted carousel And the music box chimes on And she bows the cello’s honeyed strings... And still I'm thinking in a trance How, bright with abandoned elegance She'd fly to me in a midnight dance! But the stars fade at dawn All my starlight roses gone. A fragrant snowstorm of crimson petals Her scent still lingers in rose-perfumed ice Thorny script bleeds from ink etched feathers Sign of the Raven: never more. Silken gloves and a satin ribbon Her ballgown shimmers--the clock struck thrice I fled, and briars took my garden! It's slumber on sweet dreams the shadows pour Dusk prince and his dear lass they still adore Still ghosting on the moonlit dancing floor... Don't break the spell, entranced spinner fae Let my love dance the night away! And silence fell, for a sweet red drum Let midnight’s chiming never come! In the haunted looking glass Where silvered shadows pass I see you dancing still... As a snowflake flutters in the frozen world Shattered stars the icy bell shards spill She lost a prince to hold her as she twirled. The Raven wished: ever more in dreams I stay I doomed me: far alone by fickle moon stray Behind the glass, impossible reflection Dances on Dance till dawn Ghost white swan. Moonsheen and crystal ball Time spilled her heart with a garnet’s glint Her doll eyes trembled with glistening light (Don't leave my heart spilling out forlorn) She spilled the perfume of porcelain white That bled in the wake of a thoughtless thorn Should midnight’s last stroke fall Veins keep the adoring jeweled tint! His lovelit gaze time took from you They dance beyond our forsaken rue: Your Lorcan and my Aethelu Our lost spell stars recall You were dearest of them all. Elegy’s incense in icy candles-- Death-white for snow-shrouded innocence... Glistering stars in the prism’d windows Eternal peace to her snow kissed veins! In spidery branches the ravens clamor Disheveled in reckless eloquence Atone, red-blossoming hereafter…! White thorns embrace my rose-anointed chains These death cold wings the dark elixir stains A song that drums when fractured starlight rains... Don't break the spell, entranced spinner fae Let my love dance the night away! And silence fell, for a sweet red drum Let midnight’s chiming never come... Keep safe my rose of midnight’s darling shade! Come years, she knows that scent will never fade. I'll change my duskrose with snow white for sorrow (He strayed where the ghostly orchestra played) Clock’s chime they stayed-- Never come tomorrow! On a rose-twined barrow Her song to rest he laid If you mourn one sparrow Should the Raven stay afraid? In the haunted looking glass Where silvered shadows pass I see you dancing still... As a snowflake flutters in the frozen world Shattered stars the icy bell shards spill She lost a prince to hold her as she twirled. The Raven wished: ever more in dreams I stay I doomed me: far alone by fickle moon stray Behind the glass, impossible reflection Dances on Dance till dawn Ghost white swan.

My cold, death-frosted window cracks asunder Symphonic mist enshrines her moon pearl balcony! My frozen heart could drum like burning thunder And stormy winds, chaotic raptured melody. Calls to me I go free Escape my tower, thralled to Mystery Darling dreamer, I will find you in the echoes of my elegy! Tinkling crystal lullaby Little sister, don't you cry Forgotten snowdance--no goodbye Nothing left in me to mourn. Starlit snow, years ago--west kindred lost Snow white lace, Raven's grace, keep you our king! Soar tonight, eyes alight, spared ever-frost Fly for the grave ones ones who lost raven's wing. And the Faerie folk dance Where the red roses bloom, And they call, Take a chance In the Moon-hallowed gloom! And the Fae marked his doom Far in Shadow-halls strange, Winding thorns for his tomb And his dying heart's Change. Writing me your songs of night sky's river You made me your Weaving Prince across the galaxy! Will the requiem I've turned to be forgiven? Romeo and Jules upon his balcony... Go be free And don't miss me I leave you with our gilded cage’s key Let me find the darling dreamer in the echoes of my elegy! Moonshade, hide the way across I have to go, despite the loss Your wishes to the black sky toss-- Nothing left in me to mourn. Starlit snow, years ago... Two roses in my garden: Sweet crimson paints the heart My home--otherworldly burden That fairytale tore me apart! And the rose belov’d of shadow, Who drank of my own veins-- Don't look for me in the window The shattered, icy panes. Starlit snow, years ago…
3.
Her delicate glove Arrests my arm, disarming me Shall sunshine erase This whimsical insanity? In sorrow sleeps love They dance, forever charming me! In spider web lace, Embracing velvet vanity The wheeling Sun burns Our fancy’s charmed antiquity Aristocrats dance Eternal moon tranced revelry! The hourglass turns These harrowed glooms dishevel me... Her hauntings, perchance Protect in my iniquity! Sometimes I hate you Sometimes I mourn you like a lover Can't escape you I drink to dreams I won't recover When they ask me, I say "bet you he fares better than us all!" How dare they nod and smile when they let you fall! And I do, I understand Why it hurt too much to stay But these weren't the nights I planned And the pain won't go away In my heart I'm at your grave-- Hell, we're undead but even so! Had I known my love to save… Or maybe I should go? Her delicate glove... She finds me sleepless In my cold room like a graveyard Echoed weeping Found his courage in a brave shard And it's for the faery’s madness I can stay remotely sane!-- To face the cheerful moonlight and my Raven's bane. Whither now, my dear sad shade? Ghost girl lingers at the glass I hear Castal's nocturne fade Shaking heads, the shadows pass... Could I say good night sweet prince? Since you left me here to mourn! Your open birdcage glints And I stayed, forlorn. Her delicate glove... Here waltz the jeweled dead-- Can you paint the roses red? Our prince, well he's a ghost... The darkest star of midnight burns the most. Her delicate glove...
4.
Who bears the keen edged morrow, By day in darkness shine! With blood my lips defile-- A broken dreamer’s shrine. It pierced my wings with sorrow The rosethorn’s sunsweet tine... We all must pay the Downfall Dark Dagger, win you mine. Hear the North wind, Calling to an icy heart-- Memories of innocence as cold as falling snow! Where the stars end Hit me with a fire dart! Such reveries forsook me since the fae moon hid her glow... The dark I chance, an outcast prince! (They lost me long ago) Her love song I've forgotten for the glittering reckless mask Save my soul from anger--in an outcast’s freedom bask! I plead, and then demanding, cry the grief I'd never ask... The soulless and the lost shall stray in lonely ways forever. Together seek the siren scent of midnights spent in dark delight-- Beneath my fractured requiem, like vein song simmers anger! You used to stain my dreams sweet red While roses bled on stark snow white. You drank my heart's adoring My last utmost I've spilled These night eyes tranced by brilliance like the sun! By moon on black wings soaring This aching rage you stilled And led me out, the rose-twined cage undone... My own heart's love your thirst fulfilled Long lost dream in ransom killed Briar torn, all stars forsworn I run. I can't be to you Dagger, For he'd outshine the sun! But "Come with me, dear changeling!" (And the tears begin to run) That you should see me stagger Then make me come undone…! But you would see a stranger In the memories I shun. And I wonder, if the king could see us now Would he laud that soulless light or pity my dim heart? With thunder burning on a regal brow!-- I'm sorry if I'm grim tonight He still tears me apart. It's come too late and he's too bright! (The Raven's doomed to dark) The music box stopped chiming like a deeply crimson drum A cruel enchanting hunter, just like you, how I've become! Tell me, dawn-bright angel, is it light I'm runnin’ from? The soulless and the lost shall stray... I run away from you I won't be who you are. Vaulted cathedral Shall a dead soul find haven? And never, quoth the Raven, could I dare to love the Morning Star! Hiding in my organ loft Roar symphonic chaos…. My lovesong is immortal My dawn-belov’d will die-- Her song at gloaming calls me home But there's no answer why. Her blood will charm my fable-- But I know better now And from a distance sigh for this, The light she holds somehow... A kiss upon her brow. The soulless and the lost shall stray...
5.
Come dreaming girl Sing as you twirl Flutter like falling snow Softly the chime Tinkles in time Echo lost long ago Take me away Dreaming you stray Warm spring-thyme eyes aglow Who calls me back home, sweet-thorned black Rose, in the winter cold wood of my heart? Trance me with gem wings of icicle shade! Butterfly child, are you lost like me too? My eyes hide a garnet for you Butterfly smiled! You're the Lost-Never-Lonely My dark wings have flown me from rue! When Time’s untroubled fiddler plays, my wandering feet turn in Where summer stars and harvest moon and roses name us kin Her dimpled chin on the violin She plays with fingers lithe and thin My thoughts, amazed, like a snowglobe spin And softly clinks the mechanical chord And still he thinks how the cold ink poured From the Raven's quill to spill her tears Don't cry--keep our lullabye to fill the years! For a heart full of dreaming, should I lose you, sis? For moonbeams gleaming I have lost you this Snowfall dance Breathe our trance In ghostly midnight silver Cherry blossom storm White star petals gleam and charm me In star-chilled arms Springtide warms Her night charmed veins that shiver Wistful winter's dream, disarm me And the music box chimes that haunting tune And snowmist climbs unto yonder moon Snowflake lace Join the chase Midnight grace Cold embrace My starlight girl I watch you twirl Come, fair one, dance Lost in my glance! Dreams called my changeling wise Black lacy glove Dark echo of Ghost white touch time denies Stare at the snow Glimpse me and glow! Answer the doll’s wide eyes... Breathing so still, Red I would spill Mad for the sun scented glade of your heart Vow me the stars in your eyes--ever mine! Sweet living flower--aurora in green The dark briar thorn’s summer queen! Soft gloaming hour, come roaming and find me Like roses that bind me unseen One scrap of lace my heart confessed And a rose white parasol From this jewel laden masquerade Escape to pearled moonfall My songs recall that garden wall I loved you, dear, my Ever-All Your glimmering dress like a snow kissed pall Her tears he signed with an organ chord In a ribbon twined--she was mine, adored Then the thorn-spilled vein bled sweeter still Her eyes with rain disguised crystal fill Our scheming and screaming and a blood stained kiss-- My still doll dreaming, I have lost you this. Snowfall dance... Are love and sorrow the cost for dreaming? The Dusk Star twinkles, my fall redeeming! Serenade On the violin’s strings That the clinking gears played While the organ sings! When the poet lost his galaxy wings Lullabye, love song, requiem Elegaic tone poem protecting them In midnight’s star-struck beauty rise My reflection lost in mortal eyes! Snowfall dance...
6.
Would I had the Raven's wings to fall away from Time!-- Linger like a ghost for cold bells chiming. Lay my heart in shadow, cloaked in sorrow's white and graveyard grime... Bright with icy spikes, the stormboughs shake Staring out my window--midnight wakeful! Maybe it was my undeath they tolled Tinkling in the distance, sweet and cold. Lovely shall their grace a dead heart break My moonlit crypt in Faerie long forsaken. Rise, and grim as shade, my long leave take-- How bright the drops of glass her tears shall make! And chilled by silent loneliness These jagged thorns have etched the frost Then lulled by winter snow's caress, My dusk rose fell, her petals lost I still catch her sighing In a memory's reflection No word of the Dreamer lying Where the roses bloom undying... Black rose Night-hued memory Painted glass eyes wept for me! Porcelain snows Mirror Winter's dove-- Snow white hand in satin glove. Time froze Ice-eternal Spring! Misty snowlace round her cling... Slumber-- Watch the red blood Trace her white veins In the grey rains Under black skies-- There my love lies. Lullaby revolves on chiming gears Sleeping like the wicked—Midnight Weary. Three lines for my tomb—like blood they spilled, My sharp quill and her frozen heartbeat stilled... Ragged shining Moon, she haunts the seers-- Rule the poet's dreams in rapture fearless! Lovely weeping ghost—she disappears... Moonsheen scatter shards of diamond tears. Stare down my soul in purple ice: Or break the spell, or break her heart? For sorrow's sleep, should myrrh suffice To pull my jagged wounds apart? My ghost caught me waiting For a looking glass to hide me-- No word of the dreamer dying Silver snow about him lying. Black rose Night-hued memory Painted glass eyes wept for me! Porcelain snows Mirror Winter's dove-- Snow white hand in satin glove. Time froze Ice-eternal Spring! Misty snowlace round her cling... Slumber-- Watch the red blood Trace her white veins In the grey rains Under black skies. Where my love lies, My wings are laid But no one answered!-- That somber silence let me fade. Take your chances-- Maybe I'd have stayed! Believe me now when candles Burn (and I prayed). The king of star-fall wanders Where dreams meet heartsick shade... Tell the fiddler I've strayed Where the stars never grayed-- Let my nocturne be played Like a waltz!
7.
In dew-damp gloom, let me rest, outcast! The wind bore spices for mist and mould Have those gardens bloomed since they withered last? Unearthly summer surprised the cold Winter grey I bring decay! Dead leaves, fall away The world's sepulchre on me lay And thorny branches lace the chill grey sky Rain shade lullaby Winter, stay I bring decay. I wish perfumed Summer And Autumn's incense glow Hear the blackbird sing Find the blossoms of Spring!-- And Night's untroubled snow. Stormlight glints to silver-- Pensive dreamdusk, aeons ago Hark the Faerie bells Where the Rose cast her spells In a chime only ravens know. Rue That the Sun should fall so hard Keep watch For the Dragon, my unreachable guard Thorns For poignance and the winged King they scarred... I wish the slumber roses barred. King of Dreaming!-- Will you play one match with me? Unlock their seeming And my scheming sets us free! I dreamt a door--have you the key? They forsook the Lost King's elegy. You're my shadow in the stars, That all the Dancing Ones are keeping You're the dear, why Faerie wars-- Have you never wings for weeping? By those wings in doomful scars In his grave in Faerie, sleeping... Time dreamt you Rose-eternal sweetness, Starlight veiled in death-blessing-- And I, your winged reflection, wakeful dreamt decay I dreamt my only way. Wrap me close, tattered feather cloak! Their black wings shimmered in Faerie light The scent of incense and ember smoke... Come, my crows--my song, take flight Accursed name-- The Raven came! Dead leaves catch aflame Shall ageold stars retell my shame? At last my ghoulish honor guard set spark Gleam-chased Everdark All the same, The Raven came. I'd wander Summer's orchards And rainmist, vanish frail! Sunshine, come fold On my wraith bones so cold-- Lend me Daybreak-fairytale. I dream the Sunset smolders And the Morning glimmers pale-- In beauty stain My oceans of rain, World of monochrome bejewel! Rue That the Sun should fall so hard Keep watch For the Dragon, my unreachable guard Thorns For poignance and the winged King they scarred... I wish the slumber roses barred. King of Dreaming... Peppermint, cardamom, cinnamon and clove! Lazing in the lemongrass, Pick the orange grove! My candied ginger sunshine, My rolling basil hills! Lovely like a blackbird make your trills! No more the Raven's wistful shadow on my silver soul shall lie. No more the Rose-eternal longing cloud my graceful dim grey sky. King of Dreaming...
8.
Sonorously dreams my stone-shrined doom-- My heart returns the cobweb-shrouded gloom. I dreamt I heard the lark of Morning sing And watched the Winter blossom into Spring... White flower in the snow shall blossom red (Briar roses keep her lovelorn bed)-- Perilous the kiss her spell shall break! Awaken and the bitter bloodsong take. Phantom chime of summer's lullaby Disturbs my rest where ageold shadows lie... Beyond a dream, that trembling haunted scent-- I'd rise for you, my fitful dreaming spent. I'm lovelorn Time the dusty shroud encloses And you, dear girl, the moonlight on the roses. (The Fae) Raven's bell, Midnight mass-- Hear the organ's requiem sound! Let him sleep under glass And we pray his fear to pass. (Fennore) Rose-tangled bower In deep crystal hour-- The light in my tower guards solemn ground. (Nuriae) Moon chiming soft, bring Your candles by mothwing-- Swan-stars aloft, sing his scars unbound! (Thiriol) Winter's white solace Shall wings like the snow bless-- These bones here below, dress at bell chime’s sound. Summer nights, I wake in rafter gloom-- Coffin lid fall back with soundless boom! As every eve for aeons, lift a smile To lamplit stars that wake me now a while. Lovely is her gaze, black rose of mine! Lovely spills her scent, like dream-drunk wine! Wake me and the stars go raining red-- Say for me what briar sweeter bled. Never can he hold us, weary Time!-- In dust of stars or ashes, graveyard grime. Dance in gloaming glades--the midnight bell! Sleep sweetly, and a kiss to break the spell... I'm lonely Shade the Raven's doom encloses-- By moonlit wing you grace the silent roses! Raven's bell... Hear the Raven's bell in my reverie To cover me with her spell... Drowsing here, below winding wysteria-- Mysterium, make me well! Over tea in her tower glade (For the scent of cherries stole into my tomb!) She spoke of her cloak on me laid-- Dear prince with Her name, Her blessing and doom. Raven's bell, Midnight mass-- Hear the organ's requiem sound! Let him sleep under glass And we pray his fear to pass.
9.
(Thiriol) Windows glimmer In the wood so deep Is twilight dimmer Than the doom you keep? Where roses shimmer Lies the prince, asleep… You tremble at my timbre What are you afraid of? A draught, for you who wander!-- The sweet our fancy's made of. The magicked wind-bells clamor, "Come give the Moon your fae love!" (Kalri) See, in starlight shining, A blossom-shadowed lane With thorns ornately twining The frosty arched pane! In weary dawnlight pining The pensive moon shall wane-- On tea and daydreams dining These faerie lights remain. (Nuriae) Ah! how the moonshadows twinkle In the starlit trees As icy chimes sweet clinking, tinkle In Spring's unresting honeyed breeze... Shall snow-bewitched veins freeze His steps when the dancing starts? Give him rose-mead--he's A prince of worlds apart! With mist and music, seize the Raven's fae-born heart! (Lorcan, and Melyrda and Qualdraen) I hear them calling (Come nearer, for we know you, star-child fair) They've come to carry me away (Come dance with us in a ballroom cast from Time) Reflections falling (In my mirror, look--a fae prince holds your stare!) I never won the heart of Day (The Rose Enchanted blooms at the midnight chime!) (Wistel, and Lorcan) Bring him home with silver strings! (I feel my cold blood stirring) Teach him to fly with thorny wings! (The moondrunk dreamscape blurring...) Play his heart's desire on the strings! (This ageold darkness curing) Dancing in our faerie rings! (The blood of Faerie spurring Starsilk home to his dreaming grave) (Tamasin) You'll find your timeless rest Snow-white hands that hold red roses On your breast In ageless sleep-- May briar roses long his slumber keep. And airy crystal windows catch The starlight when you lift the latch-- Their gleaming glints on the dreaming prince! I watched you bitter weep. In sorrow keep remembrance starlight blessed. (Rildi) And mayhap as you dream My carousel shall turn These mad delights we seem To riddles when you yearn Red and black for your garden-- Take a card, Dreamwarden! A piercing spade for laments she played Sweet diamond for eyes so fond A club to roam your clovered home Red paper heart to tear you apart? The King of Hearts, he stole the stars For fleeting flight's eternal scars He dreamt tonight of eyes so bright No curse of Faerie surely mars... (Lorcan) Lost in rosegloom, never tarry And my wings are thorny scars I'm reborn a prince of Faerie! I'm the dreamer lights the stars We dance in lovelorn gaiety Flute and viol, play for me Forsake despair for Summer's moon Your sweet heart's beat for our thrumming tune. (Nuriae) Called away by twilight skies Come find the roselane blooming wild! Mortal with the starlit eyes Our Starlight Prince's changeling child…
10.
Dark dusk rose In my garden grows Fed by crimson rain From a deep, cold vein Just one heartsong I may bleed for you! Drink my love In the thorn-pierced dew I'm the Ravenheart With scars for wings The lonely one who walks in shadow! Like a music box Full of precious things Will you dance while the nightingale sings? My cold heart dreams forever-- Bequeath my duskrose treasure! Black petal falls as softly as a feather... Welcome to my ballroom full of moon illumined gloom! Climb my vine twined tower where the ghostly roses bloom... And break the doom that shrouds my tomb Let not despair my heart consume! Show me how you dreamt me, Butterfly upon her broom. Rose dew clings To petals dark Come and fold your wings My enchanted lark! Sweet her scent And how sharp her thorn Not one drop spent Could I leave forlorn Poem fragments strewn From ages past Fill my writing desk With love and sorrow! To my organ loft You came at last-- My enchantress, to find the prince outcast! Redeem the doomful Raven, My laughing lovelorn haven! Her lilting song in death-charmed ice engraven... Welcome to my ballroom... And you hear the organ booming When the prince hides him away! The briar walls are looming And there's nothing left to say... Then the Butterfly comes dreaming So I'll dance with you tonight-- With tall, tall windows gleaming Turn despair into delight! Welcome to my ballroom full of moon illumined gloom! Climb my vine twined tower where the ghostly roses bloom... And break the doom that shrouds my tomb Let not despair my heart consume! Show me how you dreamt me, Butterfly upon her broom… Butterfly on her broom.
11.
I reflect in the shadow I reflect on the stars I reflect in the window I reflect on my scars I reflect in the morning In the sun-sweetened air I reflect in my yearning, I reflect everywhere ...Except in the mirror (These reflections will pass Like I never existed-- Just a darker song of Faerie) So I star at star-crystal Pretending it's glass-- A dead heart won't wither Nor death shall engrave me. I'm the loner, poet, organist The dreamer, the goth The Faerie-born vampire prince The Raven that quoth, "Forever undying for my dark exquisite moth!" This shadow prince Your haunted dream I cannot see him in my mirror! Sharp fang glints Bite back a scream-- I feel it take me, cold and eerie And then in this delirium Mystery lifts up my rue And though I cannot see her, I see you. He's the boy in black finery Outcast from a long past century Cracking tomes of mystic lore And humming songs from years of yore Perhaps if I meander by The shadows shake their heads and sigh Reflections of a faery ball Till he isn't there at all And here in the moonfall As I hide from my heart My gloom says that ruin Will befall the things I treasure. It's depression, they told me So I stare at the dark Alone with the old fear That came calling since I met her. I'm the dolorous romantic Brooding in my room Will my silent thoughts turn frantic When the midnight roses bloom? Here in the briar thorns, she woke me from my tomb! This shadow prince... Break the glass Crack the spell Reflections pass Where midnights fell And I'll get well And chance your dreams-- The worlds you tell The light that gleams! And if I'm him, that star that shines Through shadows dim in the briar vines…! This shadow prince Your haunted dream I cannot see him in my mirror! Sharp fang glints Bite back a scream-- I feel it take me, cold and eerie And then in this delirium Mystery lifts up my rue-- Reflect me back in dreams and make it true.
12.
Roses whisper at the window glass And spirals trace Of thorny lace Silence, hide me while the shadows pass-- Their lost elusive grace.. Once upon a midnight dreaming I pondered in the cold moon gleaming! And phantoms all beseeming of the musings in a dream, They dance in lovelorn whimsy In a ballroom long ago-- My graveyard bones with flimsy groans Despair the dreary morrow! Will mourning fade in moonblessed shade? The Raven strayed in musing. Till Time redeems the prince who dreams, Such faerie gleams he's losing! This wraith with rue abusing, Their grace the glass adorns And Spring haunts Winter's ruses But roses leave me thorns. Gossamer, Silk strand of mine! Wind memories in silver sadness! Blossoms, stir-- Icicle, shine! Their beauty charms an eerie madness! My wings of fearsome glooming Fell in shadows on the floor Bound by doleful dooming And the elegy I swore. Lost Star, falling--seek unearthly rest! And roses red Entwine his bed. Dreamshade haunt your elegaic quest!-- And wings like roses bled... Once upon a midnight glooming The Raven came, my tears entombing! My soul to Myst'ry dooming and the ravens guard my tomb... They watch in mist-light eerie-- What dream if Dusk should weep? My hummings die with weary sigh! While moon ghosts high, the stars sleep. In my vine-twined tomb, hear the organ boom-- May your roses bloom at Springtime! My veins grow chill and slumber still... When spells break, will my wings climb? Her light for Starlight naming She sets the Moon ablaze! Her silent dusk-rose claiming, She'll brave the briar maze. Winter night, Echoes of blue! In silver shells remember to me Spindle's light-- One kiss spent for you! Shall Butterfly's black wings undo me? One Dusk of dark foretelling Lit the lattice thorns have wound-- That Lost Star waits the bell ring Where he sleeps in somber ground. Once upon a midnight dancing I left my grave, the cold moon chancing! The fancy in her glance makes me lovelorn for radiance-- So if you're still romancing me then maybe we could dance?
13.
I hear your shadow-wings, Doom-raven Now in Faerie, dream a while... These lines in thorny script engraven In my haven, chance a smile. Moon at winter comes a-rising Star charmed ice Arching crystal in my dreams! And the prince lay still, surmising Wake me thrice... Here the grace of Shadow gleams Death-raven, I can feel your wings. Lost king Where walk you now On dreampaths far, with a star-bound brow? I crossed to wing Where the briars bloom! Enshroud my wounds in unearthly doom... And you fell From the sky! Do the stars still mourn your lost light? Hear the bell!-- First to die. Did she watch with you the last night? Black feathers spiral, borne up in the wind Shrieking the galaxy's solar unrest! Crash to the black cliffs that gleam at the end Of the World--hear the surging waves crest! Come, Raven--last beat of his breast. Ravenshade Take me too! All that can heal me hides below dark wing! Sorrow fade! No more rue. I crave the Mystery haunted by you. Whimsy filled secret, You're lost like the Star-king. Come closer, grey turret, The astral stair sparkling!-- Where long past, the ravens flew. I feel your shadow-grace, Doom-raven Dream down the stars in falling rain... My wounds in poet song engraven Make me braver, Ravensbane. Moon reflect the chiming organ! Pipe blown glass Wake my heart no more to grieve! Butterfly, come nigh and harken Fae lights pass... Let Tailawithre dreaming weave! Death-raven, I believe your love. Dreamscythe, Break the briar thorns! The stars ring out with their silver horns. The Gleam has died In my rose-hued shrine-- Make the roses bloom, take this curse of mine...! Summoner, Come for me-- Let me fall to Mystery's arms! Brush my back with your Raven's wings-- With your kiss Set me free. (She who is the Raven) "Dream again, my fae star-child!-- The Moon her grace and the Rose her charms... In the vault of glass here their fragrance clings In my love beguiled." Ravenshade, Take me too!-- All that can heal me hides below dark wing! Sorrow, fade! No more rue. I crave the Mystery haunted by you. Whimsy filled secret, You're lost like the Star-king! Come closer, grey turret, The astral stair sparkling!-- Where long past, the ravens flew.

I’m tired enough of this meaningless sadness I can't see the beauty I see in the dark Depression they say is a strange sort of madness Never at ease with my gothic heart And my pen clatters down, no more words to say! As the midnight world fades up to grey And I don’t feel goth in this crushing gloom Listless on my bed in a humdrum doom... So I wander out here What you shun I revere Gazing up at the stars I have never feared! And the deep Abyss Has taught to me this Sometimes you wake, by Nightmares kissed And sure I might then treasure thrilling fear to have their mark Secrets and a promise when They bare me in the dark I’m already tortured into madness By the synapses in my own mind! Whatever it takes to kill this merciless sadness…! Here upon this altar lie the pieces of my sanity As I call upon the cosmic, and the old and the kind Since you know Scorpio’s realm, I’m sure I’d alter if you answer me (My Lord) And if you bind me I don’t mind I confess I want to serve you like King Starlight and Rivarwe, My Lord who winds your long limbs through the stars! Take me back for Midnight in your house of Elven darkness And wind your eerie love around my heart. Like silk on my skin coil shadows that take me Undo me and pierce like the ghost of his eyes Seducing the pain so hard as to break me I cry in relief when the poison dies And here in the Void, I can hear the stars Oh wakeful prince, bear the briar scars! And into abyssal hearts I descend And I dare to think maybe I could mend! On a promont’ry high he comes where I lie My own pale laugh in the timeless sky! A cosmic eclipse Crosses my lips And a graceful vine around me slips Should I drop the veil of metaphor? I might, but sure it’s odd I’m fae and fierce, but shy to say, “I love an eldritch god” But now I give you this confession And it wasn't me that called to him Silent, I let myself go in his possession Here I'm on this altar praying touch me with Eternity With countless ocean arms, just like a mermaid without fins I'm losing time and space--here in the Void they won't be hurting me Dark vines caress me and my Master grins I confess I want to serve you like King Starlight and Rivarwe, My Lord who winds your long limbs through the stars! Take me back for Midnight in your house of Elven darkness And wind your eerie love around my heart. It's weird when I think how this reverie seems Like a strange lullaby, since you called in my dreams... She's right--Doomraven said I'd like you Or maybe it's Her fault? She's Dreamweaver too.

Time froze to crystal The winter bells, they kissed all The lullabyes he couldn't sigh To tell her goodbye... The dolls stared with glass gaze-- His ghost-rose at the last prays The lovely things she couldn't sing Will find the cello's strings. Scatter snow-white roses To grace her lace-hung bower! A thousand years I slumber here, Await the bloodstained kiss! They blossom into crimson To spill in thorn-twined sorrow... Etched in Time, like poem fragments-- Go tell the Raven, "Never more!" Never more Retell the lonely gloom That tore Your heart in shattered shards before My eyes of painted glass That stared at your harrowed doom And could only weep, "Alas!" Forgive me, Lor!-- Your curious porcelain doll. Fly away!--no ransom could recall The quaint peculiar dreamer I adore. Her mem'ry he in aching crystal keeps, The wandering prince, her cello's fairest score. By mist and briars veiled, still she sleeps ...To dream of stars that watch the Raven soar! White rose from his garden-- The Raven gave his starred pen To lovely lines like faery wine! His songs were only mine. My bow with his quill fell! His last loveletter's chill spell In paper stained, in icy veins-- They fell like flower chains. And sure you'd swear he'd slain her To see the Raven mourning! He fears his ghostly angel, Awaits her death-white kiss... Bring me a white swan feather And a parchment fill with sighing! Dried petals and a thorny scrall-- Go tell the Raven "Never more." Never more Retell the lonely gloom That tore Your heart in shattered shards before My eyes of painted glass That stared at your harrowed doom And could only weep, "Alas!" Forgive me, Lor!-- Your curious porcelain doll Fly away!--no ransom could recall The quaint peculiar dreamer I adore... In a parlor room at midnight A mist of ghostly moonlight Comes streaming in the window To lace my Lorcan's shadow on the floor... My moon-white gown where rests his midnight hair With never a care And roses climb the lattice And briars twine a promise Ever more... Never more Retell the lonely gloom That tore Your heart in shattered shards before My eyes of painted glass That stared at your harrowed doom And could only weep, "Alas!" Forgive me, Lor!-- Your curious porcelain doll Fly away!--no ransom could recall The quaint peculiar dreamer I adore. Her mem'ry he in aching crystal keeps, The wandering prince, her cello's fairest score By mist and briars veiled, still she sleeps ...To dream of stars that watch the Raven soar! To dream of stars that watch the Raven soar.

about

Within the fictional world of my stories, these songs are either written by the character Lorcan, or to and about him. Lorcan (or Lor) is a half-fae vampire prince, but underneath the fantastical setting, this album is the story of his struggle with both depression and the fear of ruining everything he touches. Throughout this journey, Lorcan interacts with many characters, both mortal, immortal, and divine, who try to help him in whatever ways they can.

Since I tagged this LGBT, let me come out on my characters' behalf. Just like me, most of my characters are queer in one way or another. In particular, Lorcan is bi, polyamorous, and nonbinary (he/him pronouns). Togeya, in-story author of "Return," is gay and one of Lorcan's longtime partners. Several of the fae folk are trans, Taralyn is bi, and the Raven (Lorcan's matron goddess) is asexual. I suppose this is what happens when queer people write stories!
